Australian Indigenous Art

Task: You are to produce a work of art based on the aboriginal art styles studied combining both X-ray art and dot
painting.

Watch PowerPoint and answer quiz questions in your visual art diary.
Make a list of 20 Native Australian Animals.
For homework collect images of 10 of these animals and Glue into Visual art diary.
Choose 3 of your favourite animals from your image collection and develop an outline
image of these animals.
Develop an internal pattern for these animals, think about the skeleton and internal
organs. Use images of Aboriginal X-ray art to guide you. Choose your favourite for your final
artwork.
Working in your visual diary develop a colour scheme for your painting remember to
stick to the traditional colours.
Prepare your bark for painting by applying a PVA wash.
Draw your design onto your bark and paint as per your design.
Develop a design for your border based on Aboriginal dot painting, consider the
significance of the symbols.
Paint your border on the cardboard. Glue your bark to the centre and connect the sticks
using raffia.
Photograph your work, glue photo into your diary and complete the reflection task sheet.
Submit both your painting and visual diary for marking.
