Fluor wins US propylene project

contract from Dow
17 September 2012

Fluor Corporation has won an engineering, procurement and

construction management (EPCM) contract from The Dow Chemical
Company for a propylene production asset project located in Freeport,
Texas, US.
Fluor also completed the front-end engineering
and design contract for the same project
before entering into the EPCM contract with
Dow.
Peter Oosterveer, Fluor Energy & Chemicals
Group president, said Fluor will execute and
complete the EPCM contract of the project.
"The US is experiencing a significant rebound
in the petrochemical sector due to the
attractive price of shale gas and we look
forward to helping our long-time customer Dow
realize this important project," Oosterveer
added.

"The project at
its peak level of
operations will
include nearly
1,600 home
office,
construction
management
and craft
personnel."

The mechanical work, which is in progress, is expected to be

completed by 2015.
Fluor Houston's operations centre, with support from the Philippines
-based operations centre, is carrying out the work for the project.
The project at its peak level of operations will include nearly 1,600
home office, construction management and craft personnel, according
to Fluor.
Fluor and Dow earlier this year, 2012, also signed a global engineering,
procurement, construction and construction management agreement to
support Dow's global capital projects programme, that includes all Dow
products.
