Deliverable 1
Deliverable 2
The test apparatus included a beam composed of 2024 Aluminum with a length of 30 inches, width of 1.00 inches and
thickness of 0.25 inches. The beam was secured to a table using two clamps. The beam overhung the table 24 inches. The
beam was then measured for existing deflection under its own weight using a long ruler measured from the ground at 6 inches,
12 inches, 18 inches, and 24 inches. These measurements are used as the datum points in which the deflection after loading
could be measured. The beam was loaded under 1 kg and 2 kg of weight using a two-tiered and three-tiered wiffle tree
(detailed in deliverable three).

Deliverable 4
For each wiffle tree the beam was loaded using 1 kg worth of weight and then 2 kg worth of weight.

Deliverable 6
The beam is known to be 2024 Aluminum, it is assumed to be 2024-T3.
Bending Stress Allowable 2024-T3 : Fty = 42,100 psi (Aluminum 2024-T3, 2015)
Bending Stress = Mc/I
I = (1/12)bh3 = (1/12)(1.00 in)(0.25)3 =0.0013020833 in4
c = 0.25/2 = 0.125 in
M =AI/c = (42,100 psi)(0.0013020833 in 4) / 0.125 in = 438.54 in-lbs
438.54 in-lbs is the moment in which the beam will yield
Under the two-tiered wiffle tree loading the beam will yield at 29.236 lbs
Under the three-tiered wiffle tree loading the beam will yield at 29.259 lbs
Under the distributed load, If P indicates the load and the loading is as described by the prelab (0.5P 0-12 in, 1P 12-18 in, 1.5P
1-24 in) the beam will yield at P =8.353 lbs
