Re: Melissa Gough
It is without hesitation that I write this letter to serve as a personal and
professional recommendation for Melissa Gough. Melissa is very passionate
about teaching and shows enthusiasm and energy toward her chosen
profession. A remarkable amount of growth during this practicum has been
shown and she has developed into a very competent teacher.
One of Melissas many strengths is her ability to work effectively and
enthusiastically with students. She works hard to meet the diverse needs of
her students and is not afraid of trying new approaches to teaching if she
feels the children will benefit. She is firm when needed, but also has time to
offer extra assistance in the areas of understanding concepts, getting them
organized or catching the students up who have been absent. She also takes
the initiative to see what needs to be done, inside and outside the classroom
and lends a hand where needed.
Melissa is very organized and relays clear directions and expectations to the
class. Remarkable growth has been shown in her ability to use the
curriculum and present meaningful lessons. She engages her students with
real life issues and helps scaffold learning and deepen understanding. She
also has the ability to change plans mid-stream and continue in the direction

needed. She is developing different ways to evaluate how well the students
have grasped the concepts during her lessons. This has enabled her to
review once again if needed or know how quickly she needs to move on. Her
lessons are very interesting and varied, offering a wide variety of activities to
engage different learning styles.
Melissa is always open to new ideas and approaches to teaching the
concepts or with classroom management techniques. She has incorporated
these into her day with ease. She is a great team player and worked
collaboratively with myself to keep the classroom running smoothly and
efficiently. Melissa develops an excellent rapport with her students and
always acts in a positive, warm manner with the children. She brings much
joy to the classroom.
I believe Melissa has the personal and professional qualities to become an
amazing teacher. She is just the type of educator our children deserve. If I
