While performing hot jobs, additional safety precautions should be taken in

order to minimize chances of incident. Following steps should, therefore, be
ensured:
o Keep appropriate and functional fire extinguisher / fire fighting
equipment at job location
o Use shield(s) around hot job area to avoid spreading of sparks / welding
spatters
o Barricade of hot job site, if required
o Use required and proper personal protective equipment
o Remove any combustible material present at work place
o Clean / wash the container / tank etc. which had any combustible fluid
/ item stored, before performing welding / hot job on the same
o Check all electrical connections, health / condition of tools, insulation
of electrode holders etc.
o Use electric extension boards fitted with ELCB
o Ensure proper housekeeping
