    Conclusion; This chart above shows the reported flu outbreak in long-term care and retirement homes
    in Hastings and Prince Edward counties over the last nine years. The information on this chart would
    suggest that the vaccination is work because the flu is on the decline. This is very important because the
    elderly are so susceptible to disease and its harder for them to fight off something as serious as the flu.
    Keeping as many people out of the hospital at any time of the year is important to keep waiting times
    down, staff less patients to serve and beds open when sudden accident victims come in. As the years go
    by the flu virus changes so as long as the lab units monitor the virus and make an appropriate vaccine
    then hopefully the number of people with the flu stays low. It will be interesting to see what the
    numbers show going forward over the next 7-10 years.
