Research Paper Chapter 1

I.

Background of the Study

Separation of parents may give rise to some of the behavioral problems a child
may acquire. With the conflict that the parents are creating among themselves, a child
may be emotionally scarred. This may entail a child to behave disruptively and
aggressively.

II.

Statement of the Problem

This paper aims to identify the different outcomes of a childs behavior in
circumstances where parents are separated; while also considering other factors that
may add to the effect of the separation of parents to the child.

III.

Significance of the Study

Through this study, we would be able to understand why a child behaves the way
he does. Also, parents would be given the knowledge on what the effects of their
divorce and/or separation may bring to their child; allowing them to handle the
situation better so as not to put more pressure on a child.

IV.

Assumption of the Study

We expect to see what would the reactions of a child be against the separation of
their parents and what leads them to behave in certain ways.

V.

Scope and Limitations of the Study

The research paper focuses on the behavioral aspects of children coming from a
broken family of separated parents. We will focus mainly on the developmental stage
when a child experiences separation of his parents and how does this contribute to
their change.
