Jordan Romero (born July 12,

1996)[2] is an American mountain climber who, on May 22, 2010,


became the youngest person to climb Mount Everest. He was 13
years 10 months 10 days old when he reached the summit. He
was inspired to climb the tallest mountains of
each continent when he saw a painting in the hallway of his
school that had the seven continents' highest mountains.[6] He
climbed the Vinson Massif in December 2011, breaking the record
of being the youngest climber in the world to complete the Seven
Summits, at the age of 15 years, 5 months, 12 days.

Sir Edmund
Percival Hillary (20 July 1919 11 January 2008), was a New
Zealand mountaineer, explorer and philanthropist. On 29 May
1953, Hillary and Nepalese Sherpa mountaineer Tenzing
Norgay became the first climbers confirmed as having reached
the summit of Mount Everest . They were part of the ninth British
expedition to Everest, led by John Hunt. He was named
by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people of the
20th century. The Government of India conferred on him its second
highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan, posthumously, in 2008.

Edmund Hillary was knighted by queen Elizabeth after the expedition.

Tenzing Norgay, (late May 1914 9 May 1986) born Namgyal


Wangdi and often referred to as Sherpa Tenzing, was
a NepaliSherpa mountaineer. Among the most famous mountain

climbers in history, he was one of the first two individuals known


to have reached the summit of Mount Everest, which he
accomplished with Edmund Hillary on 29 May 1953.[1] He was
named by Time Magazine as one of the 100 most
influential people of the 20th century. Tenzing received the George
Medal from Queen Elizabeth. In 1959, the Government of India
awarded him the Padma Bhushan. King Tribhuvan of Nepal also presented
him with the Order of the Star of Nepal.

Samantha
Larson (born October 7, 1988) is an American mountain
climber from Long Beach, California. On May 16, 2007, at the age
of 18, she became temporarily the youngest nonNepalese woman to summit Mount Everest. By reaching the top
of Everest, she also became the youngest woman to have
climbed the Seven Summits the tallest mountains on each of the
seven continents. She and her father, Dr. David Larson, became
the first father-daughter team to complete the Seven Summits .

2008 issue of National Geographic Kids.
