Breeds of Dogs

Bulldog- is a medium-sized breed of dog commonly referred to as the English Bulldog or


British Bulldog. Other Bulldog breeds include the American Bulldog, Old English
Bulldog, Olde English Bulldogge, and the French Bulldog.

German Shepherd- the German Shepherd is a breed of large-sized working dog that
originated in Germany.

Siberian Husky- is a medium size, dense-coat working dog breed that originated in
north-eastern Siberia. The breed belongs to the Spitz genetic family.

Pomeranian- is a breed of dog of the Spitz type, named for the Pomerania region in
Central Europe. Classed as a toy dog breed because of its small size, the Pomeranian is
descended from the larger Spitz type dogs, specifically the German Spitz.

Boston Terrier- is a breed of dog originating in the United States. This "American
Gentleman" was accepted in 1893 by the American Kennel Club as a non-sporting breed.

Breeds of Chicken

Asil chicken-is a breed of chicken originating from South Punjab/ Sindh area of Pakistan
and India. Similar fowl are found throughout Southeast Asia, such as Shamo and Thai
Game.

Rosecomb- is a breed of chicken named for its distinctive comb. Rosecombs are bantam
chickens, and are among those known as true bantams, meaning they are not a
miniaturised version of a large fowl.

Polish chicken- is a European breed of chicken known for its crest of feathers. The oldest
accounts of these birds come from The Netherlands.

Sultan chicken-is a breed of chicken originating in Turkey. Its English moniker is


directly culled from the original Turkish language name of Serai-Tavuk, which translates
as "fowls of the Sultan".

Naked Neck- is a breed of chicken that is naturally devoid of feathers on its neck and
vent. The breed is also called the Transylvanian Naked Neck, as well as the Turken.
Originally from Transylvania and was largely developed in Germany.

Breeds of Layer

Sussex breed- is magnificent as egg layers, able to keep egg production high even
through the winter months.

Catalana chicken- is a dual-purpose breed. Hens are non-broody layers of 150 plus
medium to large, white- to light-tinted eggs yearly.

Black Australorp- A beautiful tea pot shapped, lustrous black bird with an almost
metallic green sheen on the feathers when mature.

Houdan Chickens-The Houdan chicken breed meets dual-purpose criteria as a great


layer and table fowl.

Speckled Sussex- these are great layers of tinted or light brown eggs - lay right through.

Breeds of Broiler

Cornish Crosses-The most common type of broiler isn't an actual breed but is a cross of
the white rock and Cornish chickens.

Red Broilers-don't mature as fast as the Cornish crosses. It takes them


twice as long -- 12 weeks -- to reach market size. Males mature at
about 7 pounds and females at 5 pounds. If you want to raise broilers
outdoors instead of in an indoor facility, red broilers make a good
choice.

Delaware Broilers-Developed in the 1940s, Delaware chickens resulted


from crossing Rhode Island Red hens with Barred Plymouth Rock
roosters.

Other Breeds-or types of broiler chickens are generally Cornish crosses.


You can find these chicks for sale in large-scale hatcheries across the
country.\

Ross 308- is recognized globally as a broiler that will give consistent


performance in the broiler house.

Breeds of Pig

Domestic pig- often called swine or hog, is a large, even-toed ungulate; it is variously
considered a subspecies of the wild boar, or a distinct species.

Berkshire pigs -are a rare breed of pig originating from the English county of Berkshire.

The Large Black- occasionally called the Devon or Cornwall Black, is a breed of
domestic pig native to Great Britain, particularly Devon, Cornwall and Essex.

The pot-bellied pig is a breed of domesticated pig originating in Vietnam.

The Tamworth is a breed of domestic pig originating in Tamworth, United Kingdom, with
input from Irish pigs.

Breeds of Cattle

Holstein Friesians are a breed of cattle known today as the world's highest-production
dairy animals.

Hereford Cattle- is a beef cattle breed, widely used both in intemperate areas and
temperate areas, mainly for meat production.

Brangus- is a hardy and popular breed of beef cattle, a cross between an Angus and a
Brahman. An animal eligible for registration as a Brangus cattle is 5/8 Angus and 3/8
Brahman

Belted Galloway is a heritage beef breed of cattle originating from Galloway in the west
side of southern Scotland, adapted to living on the poor upland pastures and windswept
moorlands of the region.

Beefmaster is a breed of beef cattle that was developed in the early 1930s by Tom
Lasater, after his father Ed c. Lasater created the breed, from a crossing of Hereford cows
and Shorthorn cows with Brahman bulls.

Breeds of Horses

The Arabian or Arab horse is a breed of horse that originated on the Arabian Peninsula.
With a distinctive head shape and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most easily
recognizable horse breeds in the world.

The Thoroughbred is a horse breed best known for its use in horse racing. Although the
word thoroughbred is sometimes used to refer to any breed of purebred horse, it
technically refers only to the Thoroughbred breed.

The Friesian is a horse breed originating in Friesland, in the Netherlands. Although the
conformation of the breed resembles that of a light draught horse, Friesians are graceful
and nimble for their size.

The Andalusian, also known as the Pure Spanish Horse or PRE, is a horse breed from the
Iberian Peninsula, where its ancestors have lived for thousands of years.

The mustang is a free-roaming horse of the American west that first descended from
horses brought to the Americas by the Spanish.

Breeds of Goat

The Boer goat is a breed of goat that was developed in South Africa in the early 1900s for
meat production. Their name is derived from the Afrikaans word "boer", meaning
farmer.

Nigerian Dwarf goat is a miniature dairy goat breed of West African ancestry. Originally
brought to the United States on ships as food for large cats such as lions, the survivors
originally lived in zoos.

Anglo-Nubian, or simply Nubian in the United States, is a breed of domestic goat. The
breed was developed in Great Britain of native milking stock and goats from the Middle
East and North Africa.

Alpine is a breed of domestic goat known for its very good milking ability. They are of
medium size and have no set markings. They have horns, a dish-face and erect ears. The
breed originated in the French Alps.

pygmy goat is a breed of miniature domestic goat. Pygmy goats tend to be kept as pets
primarily, though also work well as milk producers and working animals.

Breeds of Sheep

Suffolk sheep are a black-faced, open-faced breed of domestic sheep raised primarily for
meat.

Cheviot is a breed of white faced sheep which gets its name from a range of hills in north
Northumberland and the Scottish Borders.

Katahdin is a breed of domestic sheep developed in Maine, USA and named after Mount
Katahdin - the highest peak in Maine

Breeds of Cats

British Shorthair is the pedigreed version of the traditional British domestic cat, with a
distinctively chunky body, dense coat and broad face.

Maine Coon is among the largest domesticated breeds of cat. It has a distinctive physical
appearance and valuable hunting skills.

Ragdoll is a cat breed with blue eyes and a distinct color point coat. It is a large and
muscular semi-longhair cat with a soft and silky coat.

Russian Blue is a cat breed that has a silver-blue coat. They are very intelligent and
playful, but tend to be shy around strangers.
