include Classroom characteristics of ASD as well as the current diagnostic criteria
for ASD

Strategies for teaching social skills: This section will aim to highlight the
social difficulties which may be observed in the classroom and provide practical
examples of effective strategies.
Strategies for teaching communication: This section will aim to highlight
the language difficulties associated with an ASD and indicate the key factors that
should be considered when planning to meet the communication needs of a child
with an ASD in the classroom.
Strategies in promoting positive behaviour and dealing with challenging
behaviour: This section will aim to provide an overview of the behaviours
associated with ASD and describes some strategies to promote positive interest in
learning and appropriate behaviour.

Effective lesson workshop:


This section of the presentation includes hands on activity where participants are
given the chance to recreate previous lesson plans towards one that is suited fo
students with ASD. Lesson plans will include a diversity of learning settings
including both practical and theoretical activities and assessments.
