Both Ashley Montagu and Ivan T. Sanderson have observed that Caucasoids, far from being the most refined ‘race’, are actually the most primitive-appearing and least refined race. Montagu says: If racists would take the trouble to visit their local z00 and for a moment drop their air of superiority and take a dispassionate look at one of the apes, they would find the hatr of these creatures lank, that thetr lips are thin, and that ther bodies are profusely covered with hatr. In these characters the white man stands nearer the apes. . Sanderson says: The Negro so-called ‘race’ is apparently the newest and is the least pongid-like of all. (Apes have no lips and the straightest of hair, the shortest legs and the longest arms, and a host of other features that are the exact opposite of those of Negroes). The most pongid-like are the Caucasoids which have non-everted lips, straight hair, and so forth. The Mongolozds are really very different from bath. Theer long head hatr, round in section, and thetr absence of body hair ts very odd; so also are the proportions of parts of thecr kimbs, with small hands and feet, short lower limbs and long upper. it is clear that insofar as the word has any meaning, the Caucasoids are the most ‘primitive’ of human races and not the most evolved if we choose to regard human refinement as Man's distance from ape-like physical traits, It seems reasonable to suppose that we Caucasoids are an identifiable group because of the ‘primitive’ and ‘bestial’ physical characteristics we inherited through Neanderthal genetic input. And, just as an aside, our Eurasian fossil hominid history clearly shows that ‘Caucasoids’ are probably the most mixed and least ‘pure’ of any human group.
