About Me
- Before joining the BHS faculty in 2013, I
worked in Boston, Cambridge, and
Brookline Public Schools in various
support roles.
- I grew up in Warren, Ohio and graduated
from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio
with a degree in education.
- Im in my third year as an assistant
varsity coach for the Cambridge Rindge
and Latin boys soccer team.
- In my free time I enjoy being
disappointed by Cleveland sports teams,
reading, and exploring Greater Boston.

Our Goals in
Applied Science I
1.

Our driving goal is to help students pass the Physics

MCAS in June. Everything that we do is based upon this
driving focus.

2.

Help students develop an understanding of the

Physical world around them in ways that they will be
able to apply in their lives going forward.

3.

Follow the standard curriculum as closely as possible,

with appropriate modification.

A Typical Day in
Applied Science I
1. Go over agenda; write HW in
planner.
2. Check last nights HW and
review if necessary.
3. Begin the days lesson or lab.
4. Generally, unfinished
classwork becomes our HW, to
account for students working
at different paces.

Routines and Norms

in Applied Science I
1. Lab work Most weeks were able to incorporate at least
one hands-on lab into the schedule.
2. Read and Take Notes The foundations of our units are
the regular RATN packets. These are designed to help
students navigate the textbook in a highly structured/
scaffolded way. This structure gradually fades throughout
the year.
3. Quizes - Ususally feature questions straight from MCAS.

Physics MCAS date: June 1st and 2nd
CANVAS Review Course: Last year through a lot of
hard work and dedication, the Physics department
built a Canvas course which contains questions from
prior MCAS tests broken down by content area. While
some of these questions will be far beyond the
curricular scope of Applied Science I, we will make as
much use as possible of this wonderful review tool.
