Day 1 Friday 1 July 2016


Morning Arrival in Dublin Airport
Meet your Irish Driver-Guide in Arrivals Hall at Dublin Airport

Full Irish breakfast in the Man O' War Pub
Depart for Belfast
Afternoon guided tour of Belfast with local Belfast City Guide to hear all about the history of
this once troubled city and see the murals of the Loyalist Shankill Road & Nationalist Falls
Road. Belfast was the only city in Ireland to experience the full force of the Industrial
revolution. Linen, rope making, tobacco and most famously ship building including the
building of the Titanic on the Harland & Wolff shipyard were the main industries. The Troubles
took their toll on the economic life of Belfast but the past ten years of peace have returned
much prosperity while the genuine friendliness of the city never left.

Day 2 Saturday 2 July 2016
This morning you will have a meeting with both a Nationalist and a Unionist community
leaders who were both actively involved in Northern Irelands troubled past. Each will give
you an insight into what led them on the path to violence and their work today bringing both
communities together.
Later today in the company of the Nationalist community leader you will visit Milltown
Cemetery and Crumlin Road Gaol

Day 3 Sunday 3 July 2016
Depart for the historic fortified walled city of Derry. The city fortifications are among the best preserved in Europe and were completed in 1618 to defend the city from Gaelic chieftains in
Donegal.
Visit the Old Bushmills Distillery, the oldest licensed distillery in the world for a whiskey
tasting. Its Grant to Distil was given in 1608 but it is believed that spirit was probably made
here 200 years before that !!!
Visit Giant's Causeway, the subject of many legends and where an estimated 37,000 basalt
columns extend from cliffs down into the sea.
Continue on to Derry
Afternoon guided walking tour of the historic walls with a local Derry City guide. The city
walls are up to 8 metres in height and in places are 9 metres wide. They were completed in
1618 and were never breached.

Day 4 Monday 4 July 2016
Depart for Donegal
Tour the spectacular & rugged Highlands of Donegal
Visit the wild & beautiful Glenveagh National Park in the Derryveagh Mountains. Covering
nearly 25,000 acres, the park has some dramatic mountain scenery and protects the largest
herd of red deer in Ireland. We will also visit Glenveagh Castle on the shores of Lough
Veagh. Built in 1870 by John Adair, a landlord who became notorious for his eviction of
many families from the area after the Famine of 1847
Leisurely afternoon on the grounds of Lough Eske Castle. This is as close to royalty and

Day 5 Tuesday 5 July 2016


Depart for Mayo via Leitrim & Sligo
Visit Kiltyclogher and see the homestead of Sean MacDiarmada, one of the leaders
executed in 1916 *** Subject to Government Approval ***
Visit Drumcliff & read the epitaph on grave of WB. Yeates
Continue on to Mullaghmore
Travel on Ballina and visit the Clarke Collection where you will see an original 1916
Proclamation
Overnight in Ballina Manor Hotel
Day 6 Wednesday 6 July 2016
Depart for Dublin via Galway City
Free time in Galway
Visit Clonmacnoise the monastery founded by St. Ciaran in 6th Century
Continue on to Dublin
Overnight in Ashling Hotel
Day 7 Thursday 7 July 2016
Depart on the 1916 Tour
Visit to Kilmainham Gaol
Visit Glasnevin Museum & Cemetery
Visit the Guinness Storehouse at St. James Gate and enjoy a pint of Guinness in the Sky
Bar (The Sky Bar is located in at the top of a glass tower that commands spectacular views of
Dublin City & County in every direction.
