IELTS Writing Task 1A 26th of January

The bar chart illustrates the data about the amount of money which was earned
from different types of digital games, namely Mobile Phone, Online, Console and
Handheld games between 2000 and 2006.
Overall, what stands out from the graph is that there were significant upward
trends in the digital gaming sector, while the global sales of console games
witnessed a slight decrease over a six-year period.
Turning to details, as regards handheld games it comes top of the list, making
turnover around 12 bn in 2000. There was a slight increase until 2003, reaching
at around 14 $ bn. At this level, the figure stayed stabile until it increased
significantly to 18 $ bn in 2006.
It is worth mentioning that there were no global sales of both the mobile phone
and online games at the beginning of period in 2000. The takings of the online
games started at around 1 $ bn in 2001, and just then it went up significantly
over five years, finishing at around 19 $ n in 2006. There is a similar trend in
mobile phone games. The number started at around 2 $ bn in 2002, and then it
increased gradually to 6 $ bn in 2006.
By contrast (On the contrary), the global sales of console games saw a gradual
decrease from 6 $ bn in 2000 to 3 $ bn in 2006. In the end, the figures of console
games were overtaken by global takings of phone and online games.
