Ministerial Conference on New Partnerships for Productive Capacity Building in Least Developed
Countries (LDCs) from 28-31 July 2014 in Cotonou, Benin. The theme of this conference, which will be
hosted by the Government of Benin as Chair of the LDC Group, is New and innovative partnerships to
support efforts of LDCs to strengthen their productive capacity, with multiple-sector representation.

PARTNERSHIPS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT
OF PRODUCTIVE CAPACITIES IN LEAST
DEVELOPED COUNTRIES (LDCs)

ATTENDEES:
Ministers from LDC governments, high-level representation from United Nations agencies, private
sector companies, civil society organizations, and national and international philanthropies, will
gather to leverage new and innovative partnerships to cultivate concrete solutions that result in the
building of productive capacities throughout the LDCs, in various sectors such as agriculture,
manufacturing, food security, energy, just to name a few.

PRIVATE SECTOR FOCUS:


Since the private sector and Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) are vital components of developing
productive capacities in the LDCs, each theme will play a major role in the Conference. Therefore,
companies are invited to join two of the conferences major private sector focused events:
Business Matchmaking:
UNOSSCs South-South Global
Assets and Technology Exchange
(SS-GATE) platform will be utilized
through the conference to facilitate
private sector participation
(matchmaking, business transactions).

PPP Forum:
Sharing of development experiences
and opportunities amongst fellow UN
agencies, government representatives,
international government organizations,
and private companies doing business
in Benin and other LDCs.
