Write a properly formatted, one-page cover letter to apply for a professional position at your level
of education and experience (this may include an internship). Your audience is an HR or
department manager at the corporation or institution where you are applying. Select a real
engineering job advertisement or internship opportunity (from myFuture or elsewhere) and tailor
your letter to this job description. Your purpose is to inform the audience of your suitability to
the position and to persuade them that you are the best candidate for the position. Your writing
style must be suitable for a professional audience.
Organize the letter so it is easy for potential employers to see that you have the skills required
for the position as well as how you attained these skills.
Following appropriate letter format, single-space the body of the letter, use 1 margins on all
sides, and choose Times New Roman 12pt font.
