12 Ply Poncho

MATERIALS:
Poncho
CLECKHEATON Country 12 ply 50g balls: 22 balls brown, 15 balls cream,
7 balls beige, size 5.00cm crochet hook.
Optional Fringe
CLECKHEATON Country 12 ply balls: 11 balls cream.
TENSION: 14 tr to 10 cm, 7 rows to 9 cm.

PONCHO:
Make 2 pieces alike.
Using brown make 94 ch.
1st row: 1 tr in 4th ch from hook, 1 tr in each ch to end.
2nd row: Using beige, 3 ch (stands for 1st tr), 1 tr in 2nd st, then * using brown 1 tr in next 2 tr, using beige, 1 tr in next 2 tr, repeat
from * to last 2 sts, work 2 tr in brown.
3rd row: Work as 2nd row reversing colours, thus 2 tr in brown over 2 beige tr, and 2 beige tr over 2 brown tr.
4th row: Work in brown only. Then work 4 rows in cream, 1 row brown, 2 rows beige, 2 rows brown, 1 row cream, 1 row brown.
work fairisle:
16th row: *1 cream tr, 1 brown tr, repeat from * to end.
17th row: Reverse colour of 16th row:
18th row: As 16th row.
Now work one row brown, 1 row beige, 2 rows brown, 4 rows beige. (26 rows) Repeat these 26 rows until work measures 87 cm.
Fasten off.
TO MAKE UP:
Join chain edge of rst piece to side edge of second piece, beginning at 1st row on second piece and joining along side edge of second
piece for 65 cm. Then join cast off edge of second piece to side edge of rst piece, beginning at last row and joining along side edge
of rst piece for 65 cm. Work 1 round dc around neck edge.
OPTIONAL FRINGE:
Cut yarn into 32 cm lengths. Using 3 threads fold in centre, make fringe on lower edge every 4 cm.
