Executive summary

Human Resource is the most important asset for an organization. The


success or failure of an organization is highly dependent on the caliber of the
people working within. Without positive contribution from people an
organization cannot progress and prosper. The employee further needs to be
committed and involved with the organization so that the organizations
objectives are met along with the personnel growth of the employee.
Therefore the HR department needs to ensure that the employees are
engaged with the organization and hence, employee engagement becomes
a crucial part for an organization.
Employee Engagement can be defined as the level of commitment and
involvement an employee has towards their organization and its value. An
engaged employee is;
- One who is fully absorbed and enthusiastic about their work and so
takes positive action to further the organizations reputation and
interests
- Is aware of Business context and works with colleagues to improve the
performance within the job for the benefit of the organization.
Employee Engagement is a positive attitude held by the employees towards
the organization and its value.
The project is carried out at Persistent System Limited, at its Blue Ridge
facility, Pune; consisting of nearly 700 employees.
The project focuses on how employee Engagement is an antecedent of job
involvement and gaze the level of Engagement of employee in the company
and what the company should do to keep the employees engaged.
The project includes an Online Survey consisting of a questionnaire with 14
questions. The questions are aimed at getting maximum data from the
employees so as to understand their engagement with the company.
The aim of the project to analyze the findings of the survey based on the
theories of Engagement. The knowledge gained from the theoretical part of
this paper along with the results of the survey, can be used by the HR
professionals at Persistent to plan actionable regarding the engagement of
the employees at PSL.
