Program Evaluation

To ensure the Healthy Healing workshop is effective and the intended results are
achieved, the program planner has worked with the evaluator, to design an array of assessments
throughout the training process. Formative, informal, and summative evaluations will be
planned to assess the progress of trainees, and if a revision is needed while the workshop is in
progress. A summative evaluation will be utilized to assess the benefits of the workshop, and
determine if it will be continued in the future (Cafferella, 2013). Informal evaluation will take
place by observing dietitians interacting with clients. Feedback will also be obtained from
trainees during the workshop to assess their reaction to the training thus far.
The evaluations will affect:

Program planner and evaluator-The program planner and evaluator will collect data and
analyze (data generated and analyzed throughout the program). Both planner and
evaluator are experts at analyzing and interpreting data. They are experts at separating
and categorizing familiar words, sentences and phrases, and recognizing similar patterns
and words (Cafferella, 2013).

Participants-assessments/objectives measured to see if learning is taking place

Instructors/Trainer-explain to trainees what they are expected to know when training is

over, and the steps to reach each goal. The trainer will discuss how each step aligns to
organizations vision.

Stakeholders (funders, donors, sponsors)-are the program results able to justify

continued funding?

Program-If objectives and goals are being met/will the program need revising (activities,
design, delivery)/Is the outcome as intended

PROGRAM EVALUATION

Does the ROI justify the cost? Transfer strategies (After program an experienced coach
will mentor trainees to ensure transfer of skills and knowledge is taking place on the
job), 6-monthe client survey conducted by management (determines increased
satisfaction of clients since the onset of coaching)

Type of Evaluations: All domains have been included by using an array of assessments
(cognitive, affective, interpersonal, and psychomotor). The evaluator must be aware of
contextual factors that may affect evaluation outcomes. The evaluator will use both qualitative
and quantitative data analysis methods (Cafferella, 2013).
Assessments:

Gap analysis-Three months before the initial start of the workshop a gap analysis will
be conducted by planner and evaluator. The data will be collected through a survey,
interview, and performance reviews. The data will be analyzed by the evaluator and
program planner to establish what the trainees know and what the trainees need to
know. Open-ended questions will measure the knowledge and skills of learners in
the cognitive, affective, and interpersonal domain. To use results to justify workshop
and motivate donors, sponsors, and all stakeholders the evaluation will be completed
on time. (qualitative survey and interview)

Written essay-Dietitian will explain the relationship between nutrition and exercise
and determine how they both affect weight management in a one paragraph essay.
The trainees will demonstrate his comprehension of elements, and analyze and
evaluate the effect on weight. Data will be collected and analyzed during the
program to allow for adequate time for needed changes (Cafferella, 2013).

PROGRAM EVALUATION

Observation-The instructor observes the dietitian compare and recite two dietary
theories, and create and action plan on the whiteboard. The dietitian uses knowledge
and comprehension to recite and compare theories. The dietitian uses synthesis to
create an action plan. A performance evaluation sheet will be used to assess the
dietitian; the data will be analyzed during the program. The evaluator should be
clear of who they are observing, how and what is being measured, and what he or she
needs to know. (qualitative evaluation to establish a change in learners knowledge
and beliefs)

Task/blank planner action plan- The dietitian, when given a blank planner and pen,
will be able to design an integrated action plan, using the whole systems healing
process. The dietitian uses knowledge to remember the whole systems healing
process and then synthesizes each step needed to create an action plan. The data
collected will be analyzed during the program.

Functional assessment- The dietitian, given access to fitness equipment will be able
to demonstrate the practical application of two functional assessments. The dietitian
shows his understanding of functional assessments and applies what he or she has
learned by performing exercises (psychomotor). Performance evaluation sheet will
be used to assess the dietitian. The data will be analyzed during the program for
modifications.

Observation- The dietitian will be able to recite the code of ethics within two tries.
The dietitian uses his or her memory (knowledge) to recall code of ethics within two
tries. Performance evaluation sheet will be used to assess learner; the data will be

analyzed during the program. (qualitative evaluation to determine a change in

participant values and beliefs)

Quiz- In section A of a multiple choice format, the dietitian will be able to list six
soft skills needed to be an effective mentor, and given ten multiple choice questions
he or she will choose how the skills may be applied in various scenarios. The
dietitian used knowledge to list the items, and comprehension to choose the possibly
correct answer. The data will be collected and analyzed during the program to allow
for adequate time for modifications. (quantitative quiz to measure knowledge)

Exam- the dietitian, given a one-page exam, will be able to select the appropriate
channel of communication that best suits the need of five clients in 10 question mix
and match exam. The dietitian uses knowledge to recall the answers. The data will
be collected and analyzed during the program. (quantitative exam to measure
knowledge)

Post survey questionnaire and interview-After completion of the workshop a survey

will be conducted to access feedback to trainee reactions on the workshop. The
interview will be conducted six months after training to evaluate the trainees transfer
of knowledge, and the success of the program. Survey data is gathered and analyzed
at the completion of the workshop. Interview data is collected and analyzed six
months after completion of the training. The program planner can present
conclusions to stakeholder to determine if the workshop intended outcomes are
successful (Cafferella, 2013).

PROGRAM EVALUATION

The results of the evaluations will be in a report written by the program planner, and be
used to revise instruction, improve the program, and to determine if objectives and goals were
met (Cafferella, 2013). The program planner and evaluator will use specific criteria to make a
judgment as to the success of the training.
