Screen Shots of Editing Process

Introduction

I decided to open the film with a phone alarm

as it symbolises the beginning of the day as
well as giving a good starting point for the
background music to begin.

I then chose to so a pan shot of the room to

give the audience a good understanding of
what the character is like. I then got the actor
to talk with the camera as it moves to the
right to keep her in shot as she exits her room.

I wanted to do a shot through a reflection and

I thought that a girl doing her hair would be a
perfect reason to do this shot.

The reason for this scene is to show the

mundane life of the main character (Rebecca).
And doing a shot of her leaving her house
shows that there will be a change of location
and the story will carry on.

I wanted to show the main parts of her journey

to work, one of which is entering the train

station. I chose this angle as it shows a lot of
the tunnel as well as her entering, and I
thought this would be more interesting than
positioning the camera to make the tunnel
straight.

I wanted to show how empty the train station

was so I make the angle of the camera show
the empty bench, this also make the actor be
fully visible to the audience.

Meeting scene

I decided to use an over the shoulder shot to

show the meeting scene between the two main
characters, I got my inspiration for this from
Dear John as this happened in the film shortly
after their meeting, and I thought this would
be a good way for the audience to see that the
two characters are looking at each other.

Texting scene

It took me a while to think of a way to show the messages from the characters; I was
going to zoom into the messages a make the audience read them themselves, but I
thought that that would be too hard for the audience to read the messages as the
phone would be held so would be shaking, as well as they might not be able to read it
in time as the shot might change to soon. So I decided that a voice over would be the
best way to do this scene as then I can decided how long the scene be.
A new introduction scene

I decided to repeat the introduction but change it to imply that her state of mind has changed after she meets what she
thinks the the man of her dreams (Peter). I did this by using the same camera angles, but I made her smile, do her hair
different, wear brigther clothes and generally dance around throughout the scene.

The idea behind this scene is to show that her

life has changed and that shes not lone.
The girlfriend scene

I wanted to show that hes cheating so I made

my own transition with a zoom in on Rebeccas
phone and then a zoom out on Peters phone; I
wanted to show that Peter was in the room
when the Girlfriend enters the room.

Bathroom scene

Slapping scene

I wanted to the effects of cheating so I first

went for anger/ violence e.g. slap. I made sure
that the back ground music stopped halfway
through the shot to make the door slamming
more dramatic.

Devastated scene

I then decided to focus on the sad side of cheating and how it can affect a person e.g.
crying in a corner with a consoling friend.

Ending scene

The final scene is after a flash forward, so the whole of the film was a flashback of a
girl remembering what has happened to her, this shows the long term effect that
cheating can have on a person. As she is being asked out.
