A colonel Juan Domingo Peron implemented


politics to improve working and social
conditions (paid holidays, retirement funds,
etc)
Army thought Peron could be the transition to
democracy to retain power Election:
Justicialismo force is born
When Juan and Eva Peron got to the power,
Argentina was extremely rich due to the
Second World War (the worlds breadbasket)
They built schools and hospitals and provided
help for the poor (clientelism)

1955: New army coup. Peron exiled to Spain


Again army governments were a common
scheme
1973: Peron came back and got elected but he
died one year after
1976: Army got to the power again and the
most obscure part of our history started:
30,000 people were taken, tortured and
executed by the government
International banks and organizations backed
the governments
