What did Mikes mother feel about her sons meal habit?
She was against her sons bad habit.
She was glad that he enjoyed this process.
She was indifferent about his habit.
She was pleased how her son took a meal.
An overeater is a person who eats too much. Mike is an overeater. Read Mikes ideas about food.
Food is the best thing ever. Any time of the day or night I can eat and eat and eat and eat. I
always have a very big appetite. My Mummy often complained about how much I ate. She usually
asked me if I had a hole in my stomach. Eating is very, very satisfying. It fills us up and stops us
feeling hungry. Food tastes so good and eating it makes us feel very happy. I love eating with my
family, with my friends or even at school.

Easter is a religious holiday celebrated in Great Britain. It was once common for people to wear
new clothes to church on Easter Sunday. Women wore new hats called Easter bonnets. Today
people sometimes make elaborately decorated Easter bonnets for fun. Easter is a time when
parades are very common. Many schools and clubs have Easter Bonnet parades. You can have
prizes for the biggest, the smallest, the most colourful and creative hats.

Read some interesting facts about the city of Bath in Great Britain.
Modern Bath
Bath is a lovely city and it is popular among tourists all year round. There are so many things to
see and do in Bath!
There are museums and art galleries, and most tourist attractions (such as the Roman Baths) have
their own museums. There are five theatres in Bath. One of them is called The Egg. Its styled as
an egg and was specially built for the use of young people. The city holds lots of festivals such as
an international music festival, a literature festival and even a beer festival.

Mrs. Thompson often buys toys for her grandchildren. Lets read her ideas about toys:
I love toys. And Im nearly fifty years old. I think theyre great fun. Of course, I only play with
toys with my grandchildren. Toys of any kind keep children happy. Even if its a horrible, cheap,
free toy from McDonalds, they love them. The thing that amazes me very much is how little toys
have become different. Therell always be LEGO and cars and toy telephones. The biggest
difference with todays toys is that many are digital. Todays toys speak to you and children
interact with them more. Theyre not so good in the bath, though. I dont think Ill ever get tired of
toys.
Be a Health Nut!
Nuts are not only delicious; they are good for you, too. They have lots of nutrients like
magnesium, potassium, and arginine. Nuts are high in calories, so they should be eaten in
moderation. But they also have polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats (the good kinds of fat)
and reduced cholesterol. This means they are heart healthy.

People live longer than most animals. A man lives about 70 years. Women live longer than men.
But to compensate for it more boys than girls are usually born in the world. Among animals only
bacteria live longer than the tortoise. Tortoises usually live more than 100 years.
And how long do other animals live?
Mouse 2-3 years, squirrel 11 years, rabbit 12 years, sheep 10-15 years, cat 13-17 years, lion 25
years, horse 30 years, hippopotamus 40 years, alligator 55 years.

Do you play computer games over the Internet? Do you send e-mail messages to your friends?
You can get all kinds of information there. People use the Internet to work at home. Scientists use
the Internet to help them do research.
The Internet is a system that connects computer networks. It links millions of computers all over
the world. It allows your computer to get information stored on other computers far away. Some
networks have only a few computers. Some networks have thousands of computers. Computers
connect to the Internet through telephone and cable systems.
Many governments, big companies, and other organisations have intranets. The computers on an
intranet are hooked up to the Internet. But only people who work for the organisation that owns
the intranet can use it. Other people on the Internet cannot see what is on the intranet computers.
Millions of people use the Internet every day. In 1981, only 213 computers were connected to the
Internet. By 2003, more than 216 million computers were connected to the Internet. No one knows
for sure how many people use the Internet. Computer experts thought that there were 61 million
Internet users worldwide at the end of 1996. There may have been from 700 million to 900 million
users by the end of 2013.
15 Do you play computer games over the Internet? Do you send e-mail messages to your
friends?

Victor aims to change the world, one skateboarder at a time.
1
Victor Davila, 18, hops on his skateboard and rolls down a cracked sidewalk. The air is filled
with smoke from cars and trucks. Welcome to Hunts Point, a poor community in the Bronx in
New York City. Victor wants to fix the problems, because he loves his neighbourhood. To get
other teens involved, Victor is giving away something else he loves: skateboards.
Last year, Victor started a group called Eco Ryder. Victor and two of his friends teach kids how
to design and build skateboards. When they are done, the kids get to keep the skateboards. To
receive those skateboards, they have to go through all of our environmental workshops, Victor
explains. In the workshops, kids learn about the local environment. __23__, we talk about
different animals that live in the Bronx River, says Victor.
Whats next for Victor? His biggest dream is to set up more Eco Ryder groups across the
country. He wants kids to get involved in their communities, no matter where they live.

A Hoppy Discovery
A new frog species has been discovered in New York City
1
Usually, scientists search rainforests, ocean habitats, or other places on Earth to find new plant
and animal species. So when a new type of frog was found hopping around New York, you
could say, scientists were very happy.
Three years ago, science student Feinberg trekked around New York listening for the sounds
and collecting strange frogs. He shared his research with biologist Catherine E. Newman who
was studying leopard frogs. She analysed the code of the frogs blood and compared the new
frogs blood structure with those of the leopard frogs. The frogs looked nearly identical, but
their blood structure was very different.
Feinberg believes the frog also once lived in Manhattan, but its present habitat varies from the
Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge in New Jersey to northern counties of New York. It
may even be living in parts of Connecticut and Pennsylvania. The centre of the frogs habitat
seems to be Yankee Stadium. _31_ Feinberg hasnt found any frogs living around the famous
baseball field.

us, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you have done for us. And I know all
your nieces and other nephews feel the same.
I just remembered that it is your birthday on coming Saturday and so I must send you a
birthday letter at once. And I begin with the old greeting: Many more returns of the day!
With love and best wishes.
Secondly, I am sending a book which I think you will like. It is the classic detective stories
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. You were always a great
reader, and I am glad that you can see as good as ever, so father says.
Your loving nephew,
SHORAN

However howling is not the only way of wolves communication. Wolves have an excellent sense
of smell, and they use scents produced by their bodies to communicate, too. One source of scent is
urine, which they use to mark territory so strange wolves know they're intruding, and to tell other
wolves in their own pack where they are.
Another way wolves communicate is through body language. If a wolf feels confident, it will
approach another wolf with its head and tail held high and ears perked up. If you saw a wolf
slinking toward another with its body lowered, its tail between its legs, and its ears flattened, you'd
know it was approaching a dominant animal.
The howl of a gray wolf isn't only a mysterious sound in the wilderness. Howling sends other
wolves a message. It might mean "I'm here, where are you?" or "Stay away from my territory."
Wolves live in groups called packs. The wolves' communication skills are very important to the
pack's survival.

I love my little sister. Shes my everything. I love getting her dressed and playing with her. She
is the greatest little sister you can have. Unfortunately, we cant go to the latest parties together
because shes my dog Shuga
Shuga means the world to me. I love her as if she truly is my little sister. Shes so spoiled and
catches an attitude just like shes human sometimes (I swear). My mom brought her just right
after my grandfathers death in 2006. Everybody loves her and she knows it. Shes super
friendly and super sweet. I dont know what Id do without her.
Shuga is a Pekingese and shes the best dog a person could have. It gets kind of hard sometimes
without her on campus. Sometimes I wake up and look for her forgetting I was at school and
not at home. Shes my addiction. I dont know if any of you have pets but mine is my
everything. I hope you dont think Im weird because I love my dog so much, but I really love
her a lot! I mean some people say diamonds are a girls best friends, but Shuga is mine!
