TASK ANALYSIS
UNIT: Football 4th grade
SKILL: Throwing a football
GLCES: M.IG.04.01, M.MS.04.03, M.MC.04.01, & K.MS.04.02
VISUAL DESCRIPTION:
The student will assume the preparatory stance with the feet about
shoulder width apart, shoulders pointing toward the target, eyes on target,
holding the football in a comfortable position at the chest level. The student
will then step his or her front foot toward the target, pointing the foot at the
target for accuracy transferring the weight to the front foot while bringing
the ball up with the elbow. The student will then throw the ball toward the
target with the elbow leading and the ball following, moving past his or her
ear. The student will release the ball at the proper angle and follow through
with the throwing hand snapping downward and the throwing arm driving
down toward leading leg.

1. Preparatory position with feed shoulder width apart,

TASK COMPLEXITY VARIABLES
The student will throw the football into a barrel with a diameter of 2.5 ft,
from varying distances 10-20 ft and successfully make 4 of the 5 barrels.

DRILLS/ACTIVITIES TO DEVELOP THE SKILL1. Partner catches- Students will throw the ball to partners at different
distances.
Equipment needs: 15 footballs
2. Airforce football Students play a game of ultimate Frisbee, with a
football. Students must make at least 3 throws before scoring. Students
must stop moving when they have the ball in their hands.
Equipment needs: Pennies (4 colors), 1 football, & cones.
