man disarmed, killing him.
The authorities of a city in northwest of United States on Thursday called for
calm after the police shot and wounded two suspects of having stolen black
citizens.
The two men allegedly assaulted employees of a supermarket in Olympia, the
state capital of Washington, which tried to steal beer. Both were unarmed, but
one of them used his skateboard to attack a policeman, who then opened fire.
According to local press, one of the suspects is admitted in critical condition,
while the other is stable. Olympia Mayor Stephen Buxbaum asked citizens not
to retaliate for this incident. "Take the way to address this issue in the best
way, seeking justice and healing the wounds," he said during a press
conference.
The death of black citizens by white policemen has become one of the topics of
greatest social division since the death of young Michael Brown on August 9
last year in Ferguson.
Since then there have been nationwide demonstrations against the excessive
use of police force. Some protests have ended violently and arrests.
