Project Charter: Identity & Access Management - (IAM)

Executive Summary
Current database system is considered out of date compared to what other schools operate on.
The current system can only delete profiles manually. With the system being manual, many
mistakes occur that go unnoticed. Current system can not delete or sort through profiles
automatically. A build up of over 30,000 faculty profiles exist of employees and professors that
no longer work at Wentworth. This system also has multiple profiles for the same person with
overlapping content and no way to automatically sort through them or delete them.

Goals

Employee Management System to do actions in real time - creation and deletion of accounts
happens quicker.
Clean up identity and account data for all students and faculty. Manual processes means mistakes
will happen. This project aims to clean up some of those.
Replace the identity management system with a more robust identity and access management
system.
Develop an institutional policy to govern how we handle identities and access to data.

Scope
The end result of this project will have a new and improved online database that will store the
information of students who currently attend, professors who are currently employed, and alumni
of the school. This will be important to have in order to pull access to the schools site from
people who shouldnt have it. The largest phase is the integration of a cloud system to withhold
all of this information for little to no cost whatsoever. Integrating a new student database will aid
in keeping track of who is currently attending classes and what professors are still employed.
