Objective:
You will classify and create different types of poems.

Directions:
1. Pick out many different types of poems
2. Read each poem and discuss the type it is.
3. Write individual poems based off the type being taught
4. Practice reading your script aloud until you feel you can read it fluently and with
expression.
5. Edit poems with other classmates
6. Take poems home and reread to parents and family.
Assessment:
Prepare personal poems that catch an interest based off of poems that were read as a class.
You will receive full credit as long as the poem is formatted correctly and is done based off of
your own work.

5. Keep book around the classroom for reference and visitors
Assessment:
Use your imagination by creating illustrations representing the meaning behind the poems you
created.
You will receive 20 additional points for doing the drawings.

contrast pamphlet.

A compare and contrast pamphlet
Topic:
After being informed and asked about famous poems, put a compare and contrast pamphlet
together of your famous work and actual famous poetry.
Directions:
1. Read poetry that famous poets wrote
2. Read poems that you created
3. Put together a compare and contrast pamphlet demonstrating both sides of work
4. Share with friends your finished product
5. Ask for positive feedback
Assessment:
Use critical thinking by comparing and contrasting famous poems with personal work.
You will receive full credit pamphlet if the finished product is put together by being organized
and creative.
