Plot the Farm


Task:
Farmer Joe has asked your team of architects to rearrange his farm so
he can build a new pen for his horses! As the leader of the team, you
will need to figure out the perimeter of Joes farm and all of the animal
pens, barn and house. Follow the instructions bellow and see if you can
help farmer Joe find room for his new horses.
Materials:
- ruler
- blank paper
- pencil /eraser
Steps:
1. Figure out the perimeter of Farmer Joes Farm. It has a length
of 25m and a width of 18m.
2. All of the animal pens, barn and house need to fit inside of the
Farms perimeter and they cannot overlap. Make sure
everything isnt all bunched up in one corner, use all of
Farmer Joes land!
3. The Pig Pen has a length of 7m and a width of 5m.
4. The Barn has a length of 6m and a width of 4m.
5. The chicken coop is a square, one side is 4m in length.
6. Farmer Joes house has a length of 6m and a width of 5m.
7. The sheep pen has a length of 8m with a width of 6m.
8. The Cow pen is also a square one side is 8m.
9. The new horse pen needs to have a length of 9m and a width
of 7m.
Requirements:
1. On a separate sheet of paper, you will need to show your work
and record the perimeter for all of the animal pens, barn and
house
2. On the diagram of the farm, you need to label each animal
pen, barn and house and include the perimeter for each. (P=
____m)
3. Color and drawings are encouraged!
