Instructional Design Model:
Understanding by Design
Goals:
To assist teachers in administering assessments with data collection in
mind.
To assist teachers with collecting and organizing data.
To assist teachers in making effective use of collected data through
collaboration.
Content Outline:
Teachers will be reminded of the professional goals required for
teachers, specifically the areas of assessment use and data collection
(Standards 5, 6, and 8).
o Teachers will be given TKES requirements sheets and the GaDOE
website as a reference.
Teachers will be shown various technology-enhanced ways of creating
and administering assessments in order to collect data consistently.
o Free-mium tools include QuizSlides and Easy Assessment.
o This includes premium services such as SchoolNet, GoFAR,
and SMARTNotebook.
Teachers will be shown multiple methods of data collection and
tracking.
o Including free data tracking methods using
Excel/Numbers/Sheets and Google Forms/Drive.
o Also includes free-mium tools like Evernote, ExitTicket,
and Plickers.
Teachers will practice making use of data in order to modify their
teaching going forward.
o The aforementioned resources can be used to data-mine after
collection.
o Teachers will also be introduced to various methods of
collaboration, such as Hangouts, Skype, Celly, and Google
Drive.
Learning Outcomes:
Teachers will use some form of assessment creation that has
quantitative data available for both formative and summative
assessments.
Teachers will create and save data tracking sheets (whether digital or
physical).

Teachers will organize data in a meaningful way to enhance teaching


strategies (by standard, unit, lesson, skill, etc).
Teachers will collaborate with each other in order to stay informed and
up-to-date (providing evidence of communication, modification of
learning, and assessment use).
