In effort to help all Eastern Elementary School students achieve at the highest level
possible and to be at their best academically, socially, and behaviorally, we are using a Daily
Check-In system. This year we will use this support as needed school-wide for our students. The
Take Flight Leadership Program is designed to help our students manage and monitor their own
behavior and academics during the school day, as well as utilizing their leadership potential to
become positive role models within our learning community. The check-in sheet will support
them while they work hard to follow our school-wide expectations to Be Respectful, Be
Responsible, and Be Ready.
You are receiving this letter because your child has been selected to be part of the Take
Flight Leadership Program. Beginning Friday, your child will bring home a copy of his daily
progress report. The objective for your child will be to earn at least 75% of the Respectful,
Responsible, and Ready expectations each day. Your childs progress toward this goal will be
documented on the progress report by a mentor. This person will check-in with your child at the
beginning and end of each school day.
Each week, please discuss this weekly progress report your child. Talk about each days
successes and encourage your child to do his/her best the next day. Remind your child what
he/she can do the next day to reach their 75% goal. Finally, please sign this sheet each week
and return it to school.
Research has found this program to be highly effective in helping elementary students
learn to monitor their own behavior and make positive choices throughout their day. Last year
this program helped several Eastern students improve academically, socially, and behaviorally.
Working together, we can help your son or daughter grow as well.
