Extension Project

For this project you will need to gather information regarding the region of your choice (mountains or
rivers), and create a travel brochure to display the information that you discovered. You will need to use the
5 Themes of Geography as your guide when collecting info. Below are the elements required for your
project for each of your 5 regions:
I. Location
____Latitude/Longitude coordinates
____Relative location (i.e. The Himalaya Mts. are in Southern China/Northern Nepal.)
II. Place
____Population
____Climate description
____Terrain
III. Interaction
How have people and the environment affected each other through time?
____Description (i.e The people who live along the Yellow River have learned to make swift boats out of
ginko trees.)
IV. Movement
How have people, goods, and ideas affected the region through time?
____Description (i.e. Through time Western ideas and dress came into the Amazon region from Spanish
explorers.)
V. Region
____Explain the physical, human, and cultural (language, clothing, religion) characteristics of your regions.
(i.e. In this region of the Himalayas, people wear brightly colored clothing and practice Buddhism.)
*Your brochure should include a title, a brief introduction, sections for each of the above, and a few
pictures related to your regions.
