Students will play a game in groups to practice matching a number of stars to a number shown, to reinforce the concept of one-to-one correspondence. The teacher will demonstrate the game, monitor students as they play, and assess which students can accurately match the correct number of stars. At the end, students from each group will demonstrate what they learned to show their understanding.

When counting objects, say the number names in the standard
order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object Objective: Students will be able to match the stars with the correct number with at least 80% accuracy. Assessment Plan: One child will pick a number and the rest of the class will race to see who can match the right amount of stars. Then the children will switch. I will assess by seeing which children can match the amount of stars to the number on the board. Materials Needed: Stars, whiteboards Key Vocabulary: None Set Expectations: I will split you into groups and we are going to play a game but I want to show you the game we are playing. Make sure to remember the class rules. Anticipatory Set: Remember what we did when we used the stars? We are going to play a game! And I am going to explain this game! Review game explained in assessment. Split students into two groups. Initial Input:
Modeling: I will demonstrate the game that children will be
playing and monitor them as they play to make sure they understand. Group Organization: Children are grouped at their tables to include level of understanding but I will switch three students with the other students from the table. Group 1: Braden Taylor Cooper A. Brielle Bo Group 2: Kaleb Cooper T. Samuel Ellie Henessie Individual Accountability: I will explain the game and make sure to outline the individual expectations. Closure: I will ask one student from each group to show a number and to show how they solved the problem. I will monitor student learning by seeing what the individual children learned. Independent practice/Application:
Children will work as a group to master the concept of one-toone correspondence.
Differentiation: Children will be placed in two different groups with higher and lower levels of ability. Children will work together on this concept to learn together. Transition: I will say macaroni and cheese and the class will say freeze. Then I will give the class directions on what comes next.
