Music can Facilitate Blood Pressure Recovery from Stress

This is a medical journal from British Journal of Health Psychology (2004) who
was researched by Chafin et al. in USA. The main problem in this journal is about blood
pressure that response to stress. The magnitude of the cardiovascular response during stress
will increase blood pressure and heart rate levels. The researcher hypothesized a solution to
solve the the research problem by listening a music. In this journal, the researcher used 75
participants. They was divided into experimenter group who listen a music and control
group who dont get music treatment (just sat in silence). Music treatment was given along
ten minutes and their blood pressure would be monitored during the treatment.
The result of this research answered the hypotheses. It showed that listening a music
can reduce post stress blood pressure elevations. Listening music was more beneficial for
post-stress recovery. It is important note that not all music was effective. Some studies
suggested that classical music because it give relaxation and calm, so it could be useful as
faster cardiovascular recovery from the stress .
