Training of Primary School Teachers ended

6 days in-service training of primary school teachers of public schools in the Punjab
ended. The training programme was arranged from 20th to 25th August 2007 by the
Directorate of Staff Development, Lahore with the aim to enhance and update teaching
methodologies of PSTs of the Province.
Talking to the participants of the workshop at Govt.Boys High School Mandra, district
Rawalpindi, it was told to the reporter that this training programme was a unique one
in a sense that PSTs would be followed and supported regularly by their respective
District Teacher Educator (DTE). The DTEs would bring professional development of
PSTs on continuous basis.
The participants of the course were satisfied over the arrangements of their training at
Cluster Training & Support Center.
A female primary school teacher, Fazeelat Bano, told our reporter that it was the first
time during her 20 years service that PSTs were given due attention by the Education
Department as regard to their professional training .She submitted that she learnt new
ideas and teaching methods from her training programme and would use them in her
class room for assessment of her students. The DTEs termed this training programme
as a successful experience. However they were of the view that younger teachers
were more keen and interested than older.
