Welcome second Grade Families:

I am Pam Bedwell, and I am excited to be your child's second grade teacher. I received
my BS in Interdisciplinary studies from Tarleton State University. While in school, I focused on
Early Childhood through the 6th grade and Special Education. Before I started my career as a
teacher, I worked for over 20 years in the hair industry where the majority of my clientele was
children. It was during this time I found my passion for working with children. When I am not
teaching, I love to travel to new places and I have a passion for medieval history. Most weekends
I can be found participating in a re-creation group that focuses on the pre-17th century era; this
group is not like a renaissance group, but more like a living history group.
I have lessons and activities planned that I am eager to share with your child. A couple of
the topics we will cover this year are animals and their needs in our Science lessons, which will
include a field trip to the Fort Worth Zoo and who our public officials are, in our Social Studies
lessons, which will include a trip to the Fort Worth City Hall. I have also obtained permission
from our principal to have my
re-creation group come to the school
for a demonstration. All of the
parents are invited to join us in the
day of the demonstration.
My classroom is like a
patchwork quilt. Individuals brought
together to make one design, while each retains their own individuality. Each student should take
an active role in his or her education. I believe that when students participate in the classroom,
they have better retention. Feeling secure enough to ask questions is the foundation to gaining
knowledge. It is my belief that the purpose of education is to inspire and enlighten students.
These students are our future and with a good education, we can encourage them to reach for the
sky.
I can be reached by email at pamela.bedwell@go.tarleton.edu or phone at (817) 555-1234.
My conference time is between 12:40 and 1:40.
This is going to be a great year, I look forward to teaching your child and working with you.
Sincerely,

Ms Pam Bedwell
