1. For someone working in your field, please describe the fantasies versus realities of the job.

Fantasy: I would get to teach my way.


Reality: Parents rule over education and we must fulfill their requirements

2. What is your current educational level? What continuing education and training are required?
I have a bachelors in science and professional development.

3. Please describe the typical day to day activities of someone working in your field.

Lots of parent emails, very little time to teach the curriculum, and lots of meetings

4. How secure are you in your current position? What do you think is the future of your field?

Im about 70% secure due to issues with the district

5. What is a typical (average or lowest to highest) salary of someone working in your field?
I started at $40,000 and worked my way up to $53,000. I believe the max is $60,000.

6. What potential for growth is there in your field?


If you have a masters degree you can teach harder subjects for higher grade levels and get paid more.

7. How do you utilize the new technology?

Notes, tests, activities which are typically hit or miss.

8. Do you believe the devices are an improvement over traditional education?

They have their advantages, but are not an improvement.

9. How do your students react to the new technology?

Many are very frustrated, some just use them for games.

10. Do you believe that the district made the right choice issuing them individually or should they have
made it a classroom asset?

No, it would have been much easier if they had been issued as a classroom.
