Writing a formal letter in the English language

Sender address -is written in the top right corner (here we

can mention our home address,e-mail address and our phone
number, but we cant mention our personal name.)

Recipient address-is written on the left side just below the

address of the sender (here we mention the name, the title, and the
full address of the person to whom we are sending the letter. If the
name of the recipient is unknown,we should at least specify the title
of the person to whom we write.

Date it is written either on the right or on the left side below the
address of the recipient ; the month is always written as a word.

The Greeting with which we begin the letterdepends on whether we know the name of the person we are writing
or not. In cases where we know the name the title (occupation) is
used in the combination with the surname.

Primeri:
- Dear Mr. Thompson
- Dear Mrs. Taylor
- Dear Miss Davis
- Dear Dr. James

If we are writing to a woman, whose marital status we dont know

of ,we use- Ms.
Primer:
- Dear Ms. Anderson
In case where we are unfamiliar with the name of the person we are writing to,we use a
standardized phrase:
- Dear Sir or Madam*
- Dear Sir/Madam*

Content (body) of the letter

This part of the letter can be divided into three categories

The introductory paragraph - should be short and provide the insight into the
content of the letters (complaint, inquiry, observation, etc.)
Paragraph (Paragraph) in the middle of the letter - should contain the
relevant information for which a letter is composed. It should be short and
clear so that the information provided is as concise and organized.
The final section - here we say what we expect from the recipient to do after
receiving the letter. Also, as the closing paragraph, here we can use
standardized phrases like - I look forward to hearing from you - but it is
essentially unnecessary.

The greeting with which we are ending the letter

depends on the greeting which we used at the
beginning of the letter.
In the case where we know the name of the person we are writing is used:
- Yours sincerely

In case we do not know the name of the person we are writing is used:
- Yours faithfully
