Speed.
The purpose of the experiment is to calculate the speed of a ball rolling down on
a ramp and to compare speed in different units.
The speed is how fast is an object without an direction. The way we measure the
speed of an object in this case was by dividing the the length of an object to get an
specific meter in the physic stand. For example the if the photogate that is been used to

measure the meter on the physics stand gave us the speed of the object is; after we
have the measure and the distance. The end result was the measurement in different
units.

Materials
1. Physics stand
2. Straight track
3. Photogate
4. Timer
5. Ball
Procedure
1. Gather materials
2. Adjust the straight track on the physics stand
3. Attach the photogate into the straight track, 1 foot apart
4. Connect the photogates to the outlet and make sure the timer is in a correct
place.

5. Let the ball roll in the straight track

6. Calculate the units from the distance and the time

Conclusion
The speed of the ball in units are 7.4 ft/s, 222 cm/s, 89 in/s, and 2.2 m/s. The answers are in
different units and since they are in different units they are not complement to each other
because the answers are written on centimeters per second, feet per second, inches per
second, inches per second, and meters per second. In order to have this answer we divide the
distance by the time it is. The table number one is demonstrating the speed of the photogates
that where place on the straight track by 3 meter in different units. The second table is showing
the actual speed that the ball was rolling on the photogates. This table show how to determinate
your precise answer.
