The Budgeted Cost of Work Scheduled (BCWS) for a project is a function of time (t)

and is given by the following expression:

BCWS t Rs. 1 e 0.01t million, where t is in days

At the end of the 50th day of the project, the following cost data are collected:
Actual Cost of Work Performed (ACWP) = Rs. 0.6 million
Budgeted Cost of Work Performed (BCWP) = Rs. 0.5 million
Compute the Cost Performance Index (CPI) and Schedule Performance Index (SPI)
and state accordingly whether there is a cost overrun or underrun and whether the
project is behind schedule or ahead of schedule. Also, compute the Cost Schedule
Index (CSI) and comment on the performance of the project.
Compute the approximate days of time overrun (underrun).
Solution: CPI = 0.83, SPI = 1.25, CSI = 1.0375, Time underrun = 19.3 days

The Budgeted Cost of Work Scheduled (BCWS) for a 100-day project is a function of
time (t) and is given by the following expression:

BCWS t $ 1 e 0.01t million, where t is in days

At the end of the 75th day of the project, the following cost data are collected:
Actual Cost of Work Performed (ACWP) = $ 0.45 million
Budgeted Cost of Work Performed (BCWP) = $ 0.48 million
(a) Compute the Cost Performance Index (CPI) and Schedule Performance Index
(SPI) and state accordingly whether there is a cost overrun or underrun and
whether the project is behind schedule or ahead of schedule.
(b) Compute the Cost Schedule Index (CSI) and comment on the performance of the
project.
(c) Compute the revised cost and time estimates for the project.
(d) Compute the approximate days of time overrun (underrun).
Solution: (a) CPI = 1.07, SPI = 0.91, (b) CSI = 0.9737, (c) Revised cost = $ 0.59
million, Revised duration = 109.89 days, (d) Time overrun = 9.61 days
