    publichealthdivisionandgottolearnalotaboutpublichealthandmetthreeepidemiologist!
    WhatIlikedaboutmyjobshadowexperiencewasthatIgottomakealotofconnections
    withthepeoplethatworkedinthepublichealthdivisionandalsogottoexploremanyaspectsof
    publichealthsuchassalmonella,rabies,ecoli,measles,ebola,lymeinfection,theflu,andmany
    more.
    OnethingthatIlikedleastaboutmyjobshadowwasthatepidemiologistsarealways
    enteringinformationasitcomesinaboutpatientsandworkingwithhospitalsandanimalcontrol
    services(dependingonwhatbranchyouareworkingwith).
    FromthetimeIgotthere,Ifeltverywelcomed.AtfirstItalkedtoAbbyBerns,whoisan
    epidemiologistandworkswithalotofdiseaseandinfectionsinRhodeIsland.Abbywelcomed
    metotheAcuteInfectiousDiseaseEpidemiologydivision.Iwasintroducedtopeople
    throughouttheofficewhowereverywelcomingandhappyformetobethereandspendingthe
    dayintheoffice.AbbytalkedtomeabouttheCDCandhowtheDepartmentofHealthMUST
    reportalloftheirinformationtakenfromthepublic/hospitalstothem.Ialsohadagreattime
    withCasandraCalcioneaboutanimalbites,rabiesandallofhercasesshegetsandhowsomeof
    themarebizarreorminor.IthenhadagreatconversationwithTeddyMarak,downatthemall

    andatlunch.WetalkedaboutHIV,Sexuallytransmitteddiseases,andhisjobgoesatthe
    DepartmentofHealth.AfteranawesomelunchatPaneraBreadwithTeddy,weheadedbackto
    theDepartmentofHealth.IthenmetwithSarahHartShufordHart,apublichealth
    epidemiologist.Hartshowedmealot!Ilearnedalotmoreaboutthedatabaseandherjobatthe
    DepartmentofHealth.
    ThemostimportantthingIlearnedfrommyjobshadowingexperienceisthatpublic
    healthisimportantbutyoucanindifferentwaysstillhavefunwithyourjob.Iwoulddefinitely
    recommendthisjobshadowtoanotherstudentthathasthesmallestinterestinpublichealthor
    moreover,epidemiology.Itwillreallyhelptheminmakingtheirdecisioninwhattheywantto
    possiblydoincollege.
    Thisjobshadowingexperiencewasmyfirstoneandanawesomeone!Iamdefinitely
