Assessment of Risk (to crew/ artists/

interviewees)

Risk Reduction Strategy

Cigarettes and
smoke

Crew members and/or actors could be affected

by the smoke if they have any medical problems
such as asthma.

Make sure that cigarettes are put out

thouroughly in a safe place where no
damage can be done.

If the cigarettes are not put out properly they

could risk starting a fire or potentially damaging
wires on the floor leading to further damage to
equipment and possibly people standing around.
This could cause damage to equipment which
could lead to electric shocks and equipment
being unsafe to operate.

And for the medical reasons, make sure that

all of the cast and crew have been checked
for medical issues before continuing with
the shoot.
Make sure that cameras are ready to be
covered over or moved into the dry at any
point. Or bring waterproof housing for all of
the electrical gear so nothing gets
damaged.

Rain

Puddles and slippery surfaces can cause

cast/crew to fall over or slip if unidentified by
someone first.

Puddles and slippery spots should be

assessed and pointed out to all cast and
crew so that there is no risk of injury.

Cigarette lighters

Fuel from the lighter could spill and create a fire

hazard (potentially on a crew member). Lighters
could ignite flammable substances or ash from
the cigarette.
Burns from the cigarette or the lighter could
cause severe injury to the cast or crew.

Make sure that all lighters are removed from

set when not in use and that no fuel has
been spilt during the use of them. Also
make sure that there is no risk of burns
taking place due to improper use of the
lighters.
