-When there is a silent e at the end of a word, it will tell the a to
say its name and make the long a sound.
Examples: came, brave
When -ay are side by side, these 2 letters make the long a
sound.
Examples: stay, today

Please have your child continue to practice reading and writing the words and sentences on the CVC
(consonant, vowel, consonant) and glued sounds (-am, -an), f,l,s bonus letter and all glued sound,
base word + suffix s, -ng welded sound word lists.
-Please make sure to initial all homework.
-Please continue to take your children to the library for informational books. The more
informational books they read, the more topics they can write about!!
*** I will be assigning the Fiction Choiceboard once a week. However, I encourage parents and
students to practice responding to reading more than once a week to meet the demands of the
Common Core State Standards. ***
