BREC Nominates ExxonMobil for LRPA Award
EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH BREC commends ExxonMobil on receiving a LRPA Award on Mon.,
June 15 for its contribution toward the Louisiana Recreation and Park Association. BREC recognizes
ExxonMobil for its support in various programs and projects throughout East Baton Rouge Parish and
surrounding areas.
BREC recognizes Marvin Borgmeyer, BREC Foundation board member and ExxonMobil retiree, Mayor
Harold Rideau of Baker, also an ExxonMobil retiree, Dale Auzeene, past president of LRPA, and Carl Stages,
immediate past president of LRPA, for making the long-standing partnership successful.
The valued relationship between ExxonMobil and the Recreation and Park Commission for East Baton Rouge
Parish has allowed the lives of the citizens in the capital region to enhance through numerous installments.
Furthermore, BRECs mission in contributing to a healthier, more vibrant community has greatly improved
through the partnership, particularly through the conservation efforts of the two entities in preserving the
environment.
Volunteers from Exxon Excite built park benches along the trail in Greenwood Community Park, making the
amenities inviting to everyone. The ExxonMobil Volunteer Involvement Fund allows retirees to improve BREC
facilities, such as the Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center. Financial investment has ensured BREC summer
internships in the Recreation department, the Youth 360 afterschool program, the Realm of the Tiger exhibit at
the Baton Rogue Zoo, the Rockin at the Swamp event and many more.
ExxonMobil has greatly enhanced STEM (Science, Technology, Math and Science) educational opportunities to
encourage students in achieving their full potential.
It is the BREC mission to provide parks and recreational opportunities for all resident of East Baton Rouge
Parish.

This was the first press release I was asked to write during my BREC communication internship.
This award was given to ExxonMobil by BREC. This press release was sent out to the media for
the Baton Rouge community to recognize ExxonMobil for its work in the BREC community
