Inter school Chess Championship

On Thursday 19th November, our JPS Chess team consisting of Yash Garg (Y6),
Monty Quinlan (Y6), Advay Chawla (Y6), Zihan Tian (Y5), and Ayan Shariff (Y4),
competed in a chess tournament against 12 other schools from around Dubai. The
event, which was held at JESS Jumeirah, consisted of 5 rounds of chess and was a
challenging event not least because it was held at 3.30-6.00 pm on a Thursday
afternoon. 60 keen players battled against each other and often the only sound to
be heard was the tapping of the pieces against the board and the clock ticking
away the time. The JPS Team started their first rounds a little nervously, but
improved as the afternoon progressed and all players managed to win some of
their rounds. They are pictured below with their certificates. Well done boys!
