This document describes a solar-powered LED display board that shows time, temperature, and SMS-based information. A group of students observed a problem with disseminating information about faculty availability and class schedules at their university. They created an electronic display board to address this, composed of hardware including monitors, a CPU, and keypad, and software using Visual Basic. The display board would show scrolling information input by users to provide updated faculty information and announcements to students and visitors.

Alorro, Gideon Dave; Dusaban, Leo John; Gappe, Fredierick; Naria, Marvin Roy; Trocho, Ednel; Tumlos, Jurgen Robert ABSTRACT This study provides students and visitors the schedule and latest information regarding the availability of a faculty member in the EE/ECE Department of the College of Engineering, Central Philippine University. The group observed that there was a problem on information dissemination among concerned students and visitors regarding the availability, class schedule, and announcements of each faculty. After several group discussions, the group came up with "An Electronic Faculty Availability Information Display". This project is composed of both hardware and software. The hardware comprises of two computer monitors, a Central Processing Unit (CPU), and a keypad. The monitor will display the information while the keypad will serve as a navigator to control the data shown in the monitor. The software is a Visual Basic program that will run the hardware device. Using the program, a user can input information in the first monitor. The information will be displayed on the second monitor and can be viewed by scrolling the keypad. The project will be implemented and will be put-up at the EE/ECE Department of the College of Engineering, Central Philippine University.
