A lonely stranger in a strange land I am cast, I miss my family all the more on
every festive day.
The endless river eastward flows; with its huge waves are gone all those
gallant heroes of bygone years.
If two people are of the same mind, their sharpness can cut through metal.
It is a true great man whom no money and rank can confuse, no poverty and
hardship can shake, and no power and force can suffocate.
A huge tree that fills ones arms grows from a tiny seedling; a nine-storied
tower rises from a heap of earth; a thousand li journey starts with the first step.
On seeing a man of virtue, try to become his equal; on seeing a man without
virtue, examine yourself not to have the same defects.
This land so rich in beauty has made countless heroes bow in homage.
All are past and gone; we look to this age for truly great men.
The gentleman helps others to achieve their moral perfection but not their evil
conduct.
A righteous man never feels ashamed to face his shadow when standing alone
and to face his soul when sleeping alone.
The friendship between men of virtue is light like water, yet affectionate; the
friendship between men without virtue is sweet like wine, yet easily broken.
Expend the respect of the aged in ones family to that of other families; expend
the love of the young ones in ones family to that of other families.
Propriety suggests reciprocity. It is not propriety not to give out but to receive,
or vice versa.
If love between both sides can last for aye, why need they stay together night
and day?
The way ahead is long; I see no ending, yet high and low Ill search with my
will unbending.
The people are the most important element in a state; next are the gods of
land and grain; least is the ruler himself.
A long dike will collapse because of an ant-hole in it; a tall building will be
burned down by a spark from a chimneys chink.
Carve but give up half way, even a decayed piece of wood will not break; carve
without stop, even metal and stone can be engraved.
People have sorrow and joy; they part and meet again. The moon dims or
shines; it waxes or wanes. Nothing is perfect, not even in the olden days.
Learning and culture are to a person what polished and grinding are to jade.
Among any three people walking, I will find something to learn for sure. Their
good qualities are to be followed, and their shortcomings are to be avoided.
The passage of time is just like the flow of water, which goes on day and night.
Those who follow the Heavens law will survive; those who go against it will
perish.
He who by reviewing the old can gain knowledge of the new and is fit to be a
teacher.
There is never an end to learning. The dye extracted from the indigo is bluer
than the plant; so is the ice colder than the water. By broadly learning and
constantly examining himself every day, the gentleman sharpens his awareness
and makes fewer mistakes.
Never be contented with your study; never be impatient with your teaching.
As a jade without chiseling will not become a useful object, a man without
learning will not know the Way.
We widen our views three hundred miles by ascending one flight of stairs.
Exhausting my eyes to a thousand li further, I am ascending one more story
of the tower.
In heaven let us be two birds flying ever together, and on earth two trees with
branches interlocked forever.
One can never be aware of the height of the sky or the depth of the earth, if
he does not climb up a high mountain or look down into a deep abyss.
A public spirit will rule all under the sky when the great Way prevails.
The endless river eastward flows; with its huge waves are gone all those
gallant heroes of bygone years.
Absorbed in painting, you know not old age is coming; indeed, to me wealth
and rank are like clouds scudding.

Happiness is accompanied by sorrow, and it would turn sunny after rain as well. If rain remains
after rain and sorrow remains after sorrow, please take those farewells easy, and turn to
smilingly look for yourself who is never to appear.
2.
Like the outcome after an exam, death makes us aware of anything, That is, its too late to take
a tumble.
3.
When you were born, youre crying but lookers-on were smiling. When you are passing away,
youre smiling but lookers-on are crying.

Man might think that few women fit him before his marriage, and contrarily when they get
married.
5.
Among thousands of people, you meet those youve met. Through thousands of years, with the
boundlessness of time, you happen to meet them, neither earlier nor a bit too late.

Everyone has his inherent ability (power or capacity?) which is easily concealed by habits,
blurred by time, and eroded by laziness (or inertia?).
7.
Be sure that you have never had any regrets in your life which only lasts for a few decades.
Laugh or cry as you like, and its meaningless to oppress yourself.
8.

While our dream is confronted with the reality, you always feel painful. Just trample on the pain,
or youll be beat down by it.
9.
A true love is what doesnt strive for busyness, for extravagance, for luxury, and moreover for
hokum.
10.
There is someone that is coming or passing away in your life around the clock, so you may
lose sight of those seen, and forget those remembered. There is gain and loss in your life, so
you may catch sight of those unseen, and remember those forgotten. Nevertheless, doesnt the
unseen exist for sure? Will the remembered remain for ever?
11.
It's true that we have been leading a difficult life, for we need not only to be under various
external pressures, but also to be in the face of internal perplexities. You would be affected by
the warmth of life if someone gives you a understanding look during your bitter struggle. Even
a mere glance would make you moved and inspired.

I wouldnt care success or failure, for I will only struggle ahead as long as I have been destined
to the distance. I wouldnt care the difficulties around, for what I can leave on the earth is only
their view of my back since I have been marching toward the horizontal.
13. .,.
Penitence is something that enervates our spirit, causing a greater loss than loss itself and
making a bigger mistake than mistake itself, so never regret.
14.
Remember what should be remembered, and forget what should be forgotten. Alter what is
changeable, and accept what is mutable.
15.
Apart from tears, only time could wear everything away. While feeling is being processed by
time, conflicts would be reconciled as time goes by, just like a cup of tea that is being
continuously diluted..
16.
Complaints are the greatest offerings that God obtains from human beings, as well as the most
faithful prayers human beings might utter to God.
17.
Wisdom appears in contradiction to itself, which is a trick life plays on philosophy of life.
18.

irritable against them.

From that you would get angry with your friends, we can conclude you still care about the
friendship between you.

Only till my natural death could I tell which of what I have been doing is right or wrong, so now I
have to try to do well in everything, and then wait to die a natural death.
23.
Some may be wicked, and some may be despicable. Only when I put myself in their position
did I know they are more miserable than I. So forgive all that you have met, no matter what
kind of persons they are.

But I could feel your tears cause you are in me.Answered water.
