Civil Rights Movement


8.3.4.D: Distinguish between conflict and cooperation among
groups and organization that impacted the history and
development of the United States.
All 4th grade students will decide if the civil rights movement was
a conflict or a cooperation among groups in the United States
history. After using the BrainPop application to watch a video
about the civil rights leader, Martin Luther King Jr 4th grade
students will then answer questions on BrainPop about the video.

Directions
1. Open the BrainPop on your iPad.
2. Click the Search button in the lower left corner to
open the search menu.
3. Click on Free Movies which is the third button on the
right side column.
4. Under Social Studies, click on the Martin Luther King,
Jr. video.
5. Watch the video. Pay attention to be able to answer
the video related questions.
6. After watching the video, click the Take the Quiz
button.
7. Take the review quiz.
8. Screenshot your score.

9. Lastly, in your groups of three, discuss and decide


whether the civil rights movement was a conflict or a
cooperation in United States history.

Assistive Technology
The videos not only talk aloud but also have captions
for students whom are hearing disabled.
All of the buttons during the quiz are large for

students whom are vision impaired.


For students whom are lower level learners, the quiz
after the video has the feature that if a student clicks
the wrong answer, the app will let them try again
until the right answer is choosen.
