Map Analysis Pre Post WW1

The Big Picture:

At the end of World War 1, the victorious allied forces made it mandatory
for Germany, Austria and Turkey sign the Treaty of Versailles.
Part of the treaty was that each of these countries lost all of their colonies.
Another part was the creation of new borders and countries within Europe.

Analysis:
1. Study the two maps one is of Europe in 1914 (before World War 1) and the
other map is Post World War 1 (but before World War 2)
2. List the countries and empires that were a part of Europe in 1914 that no
longer existed in 1919
3. List all of the new countries in the Post WW1 Map that were not present in
1914.
4. For the new countries, make a list of the empires to which they used to
belong.
5. Create a table to make a list of countries/empires that gained or lost
countries Post World War 1
Gained Land
British Empire

Lost Land
Ottoman Empire

6. How might have these changes land lead to further conflict? Give two
examples

7. Looking at the current map of Europe, list which countries have been lost,
which countries have been created and why.
