Compassion Campaign at Blackburn College Helps Students

Carlinville, IL The Peer Counselors at Blackburn College have introduced the community to a new
program, Compassion Campaign, in which the counselors will try to make more of a compassionate
community and will help students on campus feel a sense of connectedness.
With this organization on campus, the student peer counselors collaborate together to create activities for
the students to help them de-stress during the week. Some of the programs taking place this semester
include NEDA (National Eating Disorder Awareness week) Campaign, Questions of faith, Game of Life,
Tunnel of Oppression, and many more.
With this new organization on campus, Rob Weis, the new Assistant Dean of Students, has been working
with Mim Pride, the President of Blackburn College, to brainstorm different healthier habits promotions.
With the Compassion Campaign on campus helping students with stress, there is also a Weight Watchers
Program on campus as well.
Not only is the program reaching out to students at Blackburn, but it is also collaborating with
organizations outside of campus, such as Safe Family, an organization in Carlinville that focuses on
relationship violence. The group also has a Facebook page in which they hope to promote the
organization more.
