VALUE ENGINEERING AND VALUE ANALYSIS OUT FOR MEDICAL BEDS AND

STRETCHERS
Total cost out (TCO) is a VAVE project which aimed at cost saving of $40 per
stretcher and bed. Project also involved release of design, impact, FMEA and risk
analysis documents to client agile network. We met the cost savings with an
estimated savings of $60 per product which surpassed the objective by $20. With
an annual production of the product close to 3200 the client will be able to save
around $64,000/annum.
Team worked on 8 modules of stretcher and bed. Team was very innovative in
putting forward the solution and ideas. Each module was different in terms of
problem statement and solution needed to achieve the savings. Converted metal
to plastic, reduced number of parts in assembly by eliminating and combining
parts, proposed new mechanism without compromising on the requirement,
proposed and identified vendors from low cost region were ideas generated and
implemented to achieve the saving.
