Pre-Assessment of Students
Do any of you know where France is or anything about
France?
Modeling of the Concept
In the French culture, they celebrate Christmas a little
differently, or maybe the same as you!
Start to fill out the K part of KWL chart, and then have
the students help. The K stands for what we already
know about France.
Start to fill out the W of KWL. The W column stands
for what we want to know about France and their
Christmas. Have the students think in their head for one
minute before they can raise their hand.
Transition
Have the students move to the carpet in front of the
smart board: girls first and then boys.
Guiding the Practice
Show the video about a French Christmas.
Providing the Independent Practice
Start a discussion about what they learned or saw. Have
the students come up with similarities and differences to
how they celebrate if they can. Fill out the L part of the
KWL chart.
Adaptations/Accommodations for Students with Special Needs
For students who are hard of hearing, the video has
English subtitles.
